The Independent and Manchester Evening News have run articles last week on the Art Gallery project carried out at the CARH in collaboration with the Manchester Art Gallery. CARH attending and presenting at the Digital Innovation Meeting at MMU

Dr. Timothy Jung was invited to speak at the Manchester Metropolitan University Digital Innovation meeting to present the work carried out at Creative Augmented Realities Hub (CARH). The Digital Innovation meeting was a gathering of staff from accross all faculties to discuss the digital agenda for MMU and how the newly created Digital Innovation Centre will aid cross-collaboration between disciplines and faculties. The projects conducted at the Creative Augmented Realities Hub (CARH) was called a prime example of interdisciplinary collaboration and adoption of innovative technologies to further MMU’s position as an innovative University.

Cross-Faculty experiments with Google Glass at MMU

Using eye and gaze tracking Googles in conjunction with Google Glass at the the MMU Computer Science Department in an experiment to evaluate peoples use of Glass when using apps and interacting with the real world. Experiments also includes stationary gaze tracking equipment to evaluate frequency of eye movements towards the prism, the average interaction lengths with apps and perceived distraction from normal conversations by other participants.

Google Glass Project in Langkawi

Langkawi might be the first Asian destination to promote its Geopark and enhance the visitors’ learning experience through Google Glass. In collaboration with Taylor University in Kuala Lumpur, the Creative Augmented Realities Hub at MMU is currently planning this international project.

Dr. Timothy Jung and Dr. Claudia Leue attening the APacCHRIE conference at Taylor’s Univeristy in Malaysia to present four papers on augmented reality and social media. The presented papers focused on AR business models, user experience, AR satisfaction as well as social media acceptance. Overall, this conference had a wide range of international presenters and keynote speakers coming together under the slogan “Breaking Barriers Shifting Gears” from  21 – 24 May 2014.
