The New MuseumZoom app for the Manchester Art Gallery trial

The New MuseumZoom app for the Manchester Art Gallery trial

Our partner and developer from 33Labs has  just finished the next version of the MuseumZoom app to be tested at the Manchester Art Gallery during the 16th and 17th of June.  The feedback from the first trial has been incorporated into the development of the second revision which now runs much smoother,  has significantly more content and functunality than the first prototype and has been reworked to feel more intuitive.

Some of the changes that were made include:

Addition of eight other paintings

Addition of categories for further exploration grouped into three themes: 1) more painting from the same artist 2) more paintings on the same medium 3) more paintings of the same theme

Inclusion of a video explaining the content

Possibility to read aloud additional information in relation to the aspect of the painting the user wants

Possibility to share information discovered through the app to the social network of their choice

The addition of a location card to indicate where the paintings are within the gallery

The second trial is scheduled to take place at the Manchester Art Gallery from about 11am to 5pm on Monday and Tuesday the 16th and 17th of June. If you are interested in participating please contact us via c.leue@mmu.ac.uk or via Facebook.
